Sony Vegas Render Settings

So I changed my project settings using the little folder icon so it knows what kind of file (resolution, frame rate, ect) I'm editing, but when I try to export with Sony AVC (.m2ts file) Sony crashes. If the clip is short enough it will actually export it fine, it's lightning fast because it doesn't really modify the image that much (goes in as .m2ts, goes out as .m2ts) and that is my whole intent, but the crashing is killing me, anybody else out there with a workaround?

I can't even get a GH1 file to work on the timeline -- I'm using Vegas Pro 8.0b and mts is listed as one of the acceptable file formats, yet dragging a file to the timeline results in a "none file" which has no image.:(

Update to Vegas 8.0c. I can work with them on that version.
