So I finally got to take the Camera out and shoot with it for the first time. Shot this on a whim during lunch.

Shot using the stock lens and edited in FCP. This is my first time shooting with the AVCHD codec, so I'm not even sure if my workflow was correct?

Brought into CS4 for some really slight CC and then compressed with Compressor. Compression was alright, but I think I can squeeze a little more out of it with a few more tweaks.

Overall, really happy with the cam. Just need to learn the ins and outs of it for the best picture.

you got your GH1, congrats! good stuff too, those pancakes look awesome. isn't this camera great? the potential is there, for sure, but for now everybody is just having way too much fun learning the chops!

I totally agree with you Tony, pancakes and camera! I agree with you totally on the potential. What's awesome is that it's fun shooting with this little thing. Ironically, this little toy is a beast in disguise.

For the price and what I've gotten, I couldn't be more happy with the purchase!

All we have to do now is learn how to use this thing effectively. As the thread suggests, it was my first time with the camera so I was playing around with adjusting the iso, aperture, and shutter.

Anyone have tips or pointers?

i have another camera that shoots AVCHD and there is no reason we should have bad mud and artifacts, hopefully there will be a firmware update that resolves the issues, my fingers are crossed, but my breath is not held

Once again.. making me sick to not have one of these. I really like the way you did this slice of life piece. The old man crossing the street was fabulous.. and I really am always a fan of fast shutter stuff.

I want to get one.. Man, for the cash, it's a no-brainer. I love my HMC150, but there's always room for a buddy in the camera bag to go with the SD9 that I use to throw off bridges...

Thanks for the feedback Justyn. Yeah I saw the older gentleman crossing and had to get whatever shot I could get.

I agree with the price and it's capabilities being a no-brainer. Honestly, I love this thing because of it's form factor. It's hard to imagine that footage that we've seen comes from this tiny little thing. So much easier to carry around as well.

I have a small question. Where CAN you get one of these. New? I have tired looking around and nothing.

But onto the subject. I liked you stuff with the camera. I think I liked the outside work better. Maybe it's due to light, I don't know. Either way. Great stuff, man!

Where are you from?

Mmmm pancakes! And they actually refill the Heinz bottles with real Heinz ketchup! I'd love to have a place like that around here for a brunch now.

Good example of how even if just shooting a fun thing with family & friends GH1 works great with more pleasant portraits than deep DOF camcorders. I love the quick shot where you slide the cam across the table top, clever :)

Hey Brian! I'm from Orange County, CA. As for where to get it, I'm not sure of any places locally. I actually preordered with panny at first but then cancelled it due to discrepancies with my shipment. I ordered mine from Canada.

Thanks for checking out my video!

There's a place in London, Ontario that has the GH1 listed at $1649.00 CDN. PM me for the site.

That's quite the price. For us Canucks, anyway.

About $1425.00 USD at current exchange rates.

I'm thinking of selling both my DVXbs and moving up to HD. Perhaps I'll pick up at least one GH1. Maybe in conjunction with a couple of HFS100s...if they mix well...visually, that is.

heh.

sincerely,

ian
