View Full Version : Premiere Pro CS4 4.1 workflow?

I haven't really seen anyone discussing any possible Premiere CS4 4.1 workflows. Everything I find is before the 4.1 update. So is it possible to edit with the AVCHD media directly and then upon exporting the project will CS4 4.1 remove pulldown properly?

If so this could save a generation of compression and encoding time, all while allowing roundtrips with After Effects for effects and color correction, assuming you have the system to edit AVCHD.

If this is possible, could you export the final project using another codec (AVI, ProRes, Cineform, H.264, BlackMagic, Kona, or others) and still remove pulldown if necessary.

I'm not too familiar with Premiere yet and don't have the camera yet to test this, so does anyone have any ideas about this? If it would work I think I'm about to get really good with Premiere.

Hi,
first: excuse my english I'm french.
I received my GH1 yesterday and have tried it in the afternoon: very shinny day, it's hard to work at f4 with low shutter speed without ND filter. No tripod too > shaky footage.
For 25p: I don't know if it's better to merge pictures or not

From the couple of tests I've done so far with GH1 footage and Premiere- It looks like Premiere doesn't do any better at removing pulldown than it did before the update. :(

Clips with pulldown removed by Premiere look noticably degraded and the color seems to get shifted to RGB space, causing some wierd saturation changes in the reds.

Too bad, because the 4.1 update actually does make directly editing GH1 AVCHD files possible with even an older dual core. But the pulldown problem just ruins the footage on export.
