Just wondering if anyone's noticed this and if it's normal. I've noticed it on creative mode, but not so much on manual. It's a slight clicking noise internally.

Yeah. I've noticed that. It's really pronounced on different lenses. On my adapted 25mm it's very loud.

AD, So I'm assuming this is normal right? Just want to make sure it's not isolated to my cam. Other than, it's been sweet so far.

Yeh I heard it it too ... magnified via the headphones connected to my zoom H4 that is 3 inches above the lens !

Hmm only clicks I actually noticed was the one where, if you just BARELY zoom, the Aperture goes from 4.0 to 4.1 automatically but the image gets brighter.

You can hear it click then.

I would assume so. I think it depends on how loud yours is. My kit lens barely makes any noise. My 25mm actually makes a distinct "click" noise when it changes.

Mac, how is that 25/1.4? It sounds like a very nice addition to the kit man.

So far it's wonderful. Unfortunately I've had a lot of projects around the house so I haven't played with it a ton but I did take some shots and a bit of video of my friend's new baby last weekend and it's a fantastic lens. It's very sharp wide open. I haven't shot with it stopped down much because I mainly bought it for its speed. It is very loud on aperture adjustment though, so unless you control it fully manually it won't be appropriate for video shot with sound.

This is normal for the kit lens but only occurs in live preview, does not affect recording unlike other lenses. You can hear the click in creative movie mode S when shutter speed is low (100 or less). In creative movie mode P or in full auto mode it doesn't occur.

The noise comes from the lens aperture changing to simulate the shutter speed during live preview. The sound goes away while recording - that's what the continuous iris is for that Panasonic developed for the kit lens - an essential feature for movie recording.
