Shoot 16:9 - Output 4:3

Just want to make sure I've got this straight. If I shoot to tape in "squeeze" mode, I'll set my project to anamorphic in FCP for a widescreen DVD or widescreen web video. Right?

If I later needed to convert that project - say for a commercial that's going to be broadcast on 4:3 television - I would need to recapture and re-edit the whole thing, just without the anamorphic selection?

no, you will have to enlarge the image and crop left and right to extract a 4:3 image. You can also "reframe" while cropping.... (meaning, you don't have to crop the same amount on the left and right boarder of the image)
