HPX170 and HVX200 timecode looses sync

I have matched all timecode settings between my HVX and HPX, but after a day the free run timecode between the two cameras is off by more than an hour.
Has anybody else experienced this?
Settings:
TC Mode: NDF
TCG: Free Run
UB Mode: Time

I've never understood the point of syncing two cameras' timecode. Why not just slate and sync the two angles in post to the clap?

I typically only shoot with one camera, so I admittedly don't know what I'm talking about. The one two camera shoot I did, we had a boom mic plugged into one camera and the other camera synchronized to that sound. No slate that time, but that would only make it easier.
