I made a short film with the DMC-FT1 this weekend. Just to show what is possible even with a point and shooter.

Nice and wet, really liked some of the low wide angle stuff. Who'd have thunk it, shot with this little camera. Cheers

thanks, I've checked it and again panasonic uses a better encoder for the FT1 than the GH1.

and still there are people saying "panasonic did the best but it is not their fault! for $1500 they cannot provide a better encoder" , well they are giving a better encoder for their P&S cams :violin:

Yes, there seams to be no problems with bitrate or other codec issues with this camera.
Just checked the different modes and when shooting it appears the ISO does stay put.

I guess you could trick it to lower shutter by holding ND in front of the lens but other than that is full auto.

One feature that might work is to record 16:9 anamorphic to give it a similar wide 2.35:1 using the full sensor! Took a screen capture of Avids editor window. The one on the left is the original video file and the one on the right I squeezed it to get right proportions.

Used this "anamorphic" mode on the FT1 and this is what it looks like

Lovely little film.

Have you tried shooting underwater with that cam yet?

Did some shoots in the summertime film but will use it more this summer in the Adriatic sea. There will be underwater films later this summer :)

Lovely film! It is really amazing what you can do with those point and shooters (travelcams). I just had my litte Lumix TZ5 with me on a weekend in Istanbul, here is my example for comparison:

Now I got my GH1 ... still struggling with the workflow, but I will post soon.

best regards, Gunther

From the size of that cam and the speed of tech,
you know that will be in your phone before you can say boo

That's quite awesome. The camera doesn't need external housing to film underwater? That's very impressive if so.
