Hi all, I'm just getting comfortable with my new HF200..teeny, tiny camera, but so far, I love it. I was trying to move some clips from the mem card to my computer using the mini USB cable that came with the camera. Problem is that when I connect the camera via USB, my system doesn't even recognize that it's connected to the USB port. I know my ports work fine becase I connected a series of different storage devices to it and they all got picked up.

Any ideas why my system might not be recognizing the camera as a storage device?

Any help will be appreciated.

did the HF200 come with any software?
There's a chance you need to install drivers for your computer to see it.

Just a guess though.

Thanks for the reply, Rippie. Well, I installed all of the software that came with the camera, still no workey. Then, I decided to check the Canon website.. lo and behold, the damn AC adapter needs to be plugged in for the USB connection to work. It would have been nice if Canon had included that lil bit ' wisdom in the manual.

Ahh well, the important thing is, it's working and I love the camera. :D

Hello -- I was thinking about picking up an HF200 (a local guy is selling one for around 400 bucks). I could also grab a GL1 for 400 bucks. How have you been liking this camera? Does it feel like something you'd use to just make home movies, or do you feel like with enough tweaking it could serve as a decent piece of equipment for web-based narrative stuff? I've already got audio covered, so the difference there is inconsequential.

Trying to make my final decision in the next couple days. Any thoughts would be awesome. Thanks!!
