Can the HPX170 be used as a pass-through to view HD footage on an HDTV (via component) when coming from a Final Cut Pro timeline (eg, firewire from computer to HPX170, component from HPX170 to monitor)?

Yes, the 170 can do that.

haha, I do that all the time. Every time I shoot I do dailies on my HDTV.
