For what?
For example, what do you mean by "full HD?"
The HVX records DVCProHD to p2 cards. You copy the p2 volumes to your MacBook Pro, and then use the log and transfer window in FCS2 to ingest the DVCProHD footage for editing.
Your post needs some specifics.
DVCProHD is compressed, not uncompressed HD.
Help us out.

full hd as in the best quality i can get with what i have, im not very specific because i dont know what im doing lol, i just got this camera. i thought it was uncompressed. but since its not would it be ideal to use a firewire or should i purchase the P2/expresscard converter? What else do i need to buy?

Reread my post and read your HVX manual.
You shoot to p2 cards.
You either transfer them to a MBP using an express card adapter or mounting the cam using FW and then doing a Finder copy.
Ingest as I and the FCP explain using log and transfer.

1. Buy Barry Greens HVX book
2. Read his book 3 times
3. Make movies with your newly gained knowledge of the HVX thanks to Mr. Green.

Of course it does.
Firewire requires you to stop shooting with your cam.
DA does not.
Remember to write protect in any case.
