Hey,

I'm shooting a ATV promo video for some power drink and plan on getting a couple kinds of shots.

I'm looking for tips on shooting action sports in general as well as HVX settings to get that slo-motion high shutter speed look. I'm trying to find a clip as an example, I'll post one later. I tried some test on cars out front with 720pn 60fps 1/500 shutter and it looked pretty good.

Do you recommend using the degree method or the standard presets aka 1/1000 1/500 ect.

Also, settings for 720pn 24fps.

Thanks in advance.

I usually shoot with a 1/250 shutter when I shoot 60/24. Unless you're going for the high shutter look, I'd stick to below 1/500.

Thats what my tests seemed to confirm. 1/500 looked close to what I was going for.

Do you think its better to dial it in using the degree option.... or just stick with 1/500.

I'm going for that ESPN "dirt bike hugging the corner with its back tire spinning up dirt" slo-mo look, where you can see all the dirt particles and its not just a big blur.

Ya, I'd stick to 1/500 or above then.

As far as setting your own shutter angle, just experiment with it and see what results you can come up with. Anything over 180 will exhibit more motion blur, and anything below 180 will give you less motion blur.
