I had some one shooting an event this weekend and they were transferring footage in the field but when they transferred the footage from the p2 card to an external drive, but they only transferred the folders inside the content folder. THey did not transfer the content folder itself or the Last Clip file.
They then formatted the p2 cards and shot more.
Is there anyway to use this footage. Normally, we work on FCP, but I'll do whatever it takes to save the footage.

Try creating a CONTENTS folder and moving those sub-folders into it?
Any editor but FCP could use that footage, btw. You can just drag the MXF files onto the timeline, but you'd have to manually sync up the audio. You could do that in EDIUS or SpeedEdit or Premiere Pro CS3 or Avid.
FCP's "Log & Transfer" requires the CONTENTS folder as-is. Actually, you could even use the footage as-is in FCP, you'd just have to install P2CMS, which installs an MXF import plug-in for FCP. Then you could drag files from the VIDEO folder and files from the AUDIO folder to the timeline, again having to manually sync.
But if you put the folders back in a CONTENTS folder you should be able to use log & transfer.

Thanks for the advice.
But, don't I need the Last Clip .txt file?

I'm pretty sure only if you have clips that spanned over onto another card.

I believe if you install the P2 Content Management System (P2CMS) on a Mac, you also can drag the mxf files directly into the sequence, but you have to match the audio.

Right -- I had posted that in the very next sentence.
