The title should have read: SDHC card System Error P2 Micon Error. Sorry for the confusion.

This is the first time I have tried to use an SD card in my HVX after owning and using it for three years. When I insert the card in the camera and try to format the card I get the following message in red font on a blue screen: System Error/ P2 Micon Error.

I have searched the forum for info on this but all I have found is in regards to P2 card functions.

Any ideas as to what the problem is and better yet what the remedy is? I am trying to load some new scene files downloaded from Panasonic's site and am unable to do so until I can get this card formatted.

Your help is appreciated.
Jim

Come on folks! No one else has experienced this?

Try a different SD card. I have never experienced this error with my HVX or HPX. And I just updated the firmware on the HPX last week using an SD card.

I'm pretty sure the HVX won't read SDHC cards... just straight SD cards!

That's a good guess. Come to think of it, I used an old 1GB SD card I had laying around to do the firmware upgrade. What about the HPX, does it support SDHC cards?

Hi,

The HVX200 doesn't recognize the SDHC card, has to be a standard SD card. Sorry, that part of the camera was designed prior to the invention of the SDHC card.

Hope that helps,

Jan

Thanks. I had a feeling that might be the case.

Jan:

Does the 170 use SDHC cards or only SD also?

Hi,

The birthday of the HPX170 is after the intro of the SDHC cards and thus it is compatible.

It is that odd little quirk in the manufacturing biz that you can't design interfaces for stuff that doesn't exist. It is the very reason that P2 looked like something we could continue to develop and improve and just not have it change the interface.

Thanks for that Jan. Good to know.

According to page 32 of my manual for the AG-HVX200P, a 4GB SDHC card is acceptable.

Hmmm, Didn't think it would work. obviously I am wrong. So I wonder why this isn't working. Jim did you get a different card to work?

Well, I'll be hog-tied, but yes, Diffuzhun is correct, a 4GB SDHC card is listed in the HVX200 owner's manual. I thought that would only be applicable to the 200A; the 200A's manual lists SDHC 4GB/8GB/16GB. But I'm surprised the original 200 supports SDHC.

Jan,

Went with a standard SD card and it worked fine.

HVX200P/PJ/PJa is a later date of MFG than HVX200 early - HVX200P is SDHC also shipped with firmware to support higher capacity P2 R-Series cards as well. I'm surprised there the forum does not make a distinction between the HVX200/HVX200P/HVX200A series.
