First time I've seen it on a site and with a PRICE
"http://www.jr.com/panasonic/pe/PAN_7_hy_14MM/"
1100 bucks !!!:Drogar-Dum(DBG):
I know lenses are expensive but it's a 4.0
Nikon makes a reputable lens similarly it's cheaper than that at 2.8
I guess cuz' it's a zoom, but still...LOL.

Whooo. That's a dear price for a 4.0 lens. I think I'm going to learn to autofocus and stick with cheapie adapted primes.

Yeah f that.
Granted 2.8 fisheye zooms aren't a common occurrance...still. Then again this camera is probably going to have the opposite effect of common DSLRs - wide angles pricey since the sensor is smaller 7mm and a zoom is quite a feat, whereas telephoto lenses can be had on the cheap compared to the bigger sensor cameras. Hell, 80 dollar 50mm prime lens is telephoto for the GH1.

Good point. I think I'm really going to look for a 20 to 30 mm prime that's fast. Need one fast "normal view" lens.

Does anyone have alternative ideas to the Panny 7-14mm for a wide zoom? I was considering buying the 7-14 but then I noticed there's no thread for filters on the front of the lens. This means I'd need to attach a matte box for ND filters or a polarizer, which kind of eliminates the ability to shoot "low-profile" or run and gun. Ideas?

I have an NBC discount as well. And the price is right for the 7-14. But yes, it says "not available from Panasonic Direct".
