So what do you think comes out with a 24p 1080 camera first Canon or Nikon? Cuz eventually I'll upgrade from the GH1 with another DSLR, but am getting either Canon/Nikon glass for the GH1 (don't care about losing auto focus).
Rumor has it the d400 will do 24 1080p. Honestly I doubt Canon will firmware the Mark ii to 24p, that's more of a luxury, the exposure controls were a sore necessity and a blunder on their part.

Well, we are are going to get a GH1 for B roll in a few months after the dust settles and the bugs run away so to speak. Since i have all Nikon glass with my 35 adapter rig, i will stay with Nikon.
I am very pleased with the Nikon Bokeh and quality and the Nikons are a little more affordable.
HoW much are the conversion mounts going for the GH1? Cheers

Don't care about conversion mounts, but no way do I want to get new lenses with a second body LOL.
Then again, if the GH1 is all that, may just get a 2nd one of those and save 2k LOL.
I'm leaning towards Nikon as per the d400 rumor, that'll be out in a few months, and I think Canon will be slow getting us a 24p full HD DSLR for the time being.

well i am planning on sticking with nikon... but as I see it, unlike canon, nikon is not invested in the camcorder sector of production and i think because of that they will most likely release a quality dslr first, in comparison to canon who may hinder their product as to protect their other camcorders
however, in the long run both of these companies will likely release the wanted 1080 24p... it will then turn into a competition for the lowest price so as to increase their products demand. which will end up benefitting the consumer assuming companies like canon, nikon, panasonic, olympus and eventually red continue to produce competing cameras

Honestly yeah, I think Nikon HAS TO DO this first - their d90 / d5000 line is WAAAAAY behind Panasonic and Canon for hybrids. The comparison footage on youtube was ghastly.

very reliable source. The same source that told me manual control was coming a couple of months ago.
Damn...god damn...more confusion.
Tell them to get some audio controls too LOL

You can use Nikon Glass on a Canon.
You can't do the reverse.

Unless we are talking FD lenses. But I second that - either Nikon glass, or Canon old FD glass it the way to go. I was literally crying selling all my shiny mint EF lenses a few weeks in preparation for this switch.

Canon EF lenses do not have aperture rings. If you plan to use your glass on the GH1, then you should get Nikon lenses. Otherwise, you'll be stuck shooting wide open all the time.

Ah good point...no electrical connector adapters (sorry if that sounds dumb, new to the whole hybrid craze)
