Thanks. It's raining here in LA today so I can't really do too much with it but I'm going to really mess around with it tonight after I finish some projects around the house.

Your getting rain right now?

I'm in Newport beach and we don't have any rain. It would've been cool if you had the GH1 a day earlier, you could've filmed the lightening storm last night.

Be sure to shoot some 1080 24fps too.

Congrats admactanium

Hey upshot, you should go ahead and order from Panasonic if you haven't already. FDS said in the other thread that he ordered this morning from panasonic and it's supposed to be in his hands next week. You never know, but I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

Body and Lens Firmware are both 1.0. Can't do much shooting today unfortunately. Got an electrician working here today so I'm rather trapped.

Nope. I haven't been charged and from what I'm hearing, I'll probably get an email tomorrow morning stating that it's been backordered and I'll have to wait 2-4 weeks.

If it comes on the 8th, fantastic. If not, I'll survive I don't have any shoots coming up I can't cover with a DVX or HV30 right now.

Panasonic Direct. Sorry I haven't given many impressions yet. I've actually been a bit under the weather the past few day and today I got hit with a pretty nasty cold. I'm mostly sitting in bed and reading the manual.

Are you sure you have the camera? Rain in LA I'm here no rain. Electrician trapping you then you under the weather? At least upload a pic. If you have the GH1 then great but if not I hope you aren't a firefighter!

There is definitely some foaming at the mouth going on in this thread. Yikes.

I was personally hoping to order through B&H instead of Panasonic direct to make getting accessories easier, but they just changed their expected arrival from June to July. Looks like Panasonic direct is the way to go.

Looking forward to your reviews on the American model GH1.

Why the hell would I lie about something like that. Sheesh. I was just letting folks know that they're out and being delivered. And yes, it did rain in Manhattan Beach yesterday. And yes I'm feeling sick. I just woke up about 15 minutes ago.

Do you really need to be like that? How often does rain cover an entire state at the same time? Just because you don't see any rain doesn't mean a damn thing. I always thought this forum was one of those rare corners of the internet where people don't spout "Pics or it didn't happen!".

Interesting so far. First off, I'm only a hobbyist photographer who bought this to replace or complement my Canon 30D. After messing with it last night and some today, I'm not sure the GH1 is going to be the equal of my 30D for stills. I need to run some side-by-side tests when I have some more time and don't have other projects waiting on me. The GH1 is noisier than the 30D it seems and it had a different character to the noise. If you notice on this one shot I just took outside, the noise seems to arrange itself in a grid pattern.

http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b19/jeffnee/th_P1010060.jpg (http://s16.photobucket.com/albums/b19/jeffnee/?action=view&current=P1010060.jpg)

I'm not someone who hates noise in all forms, but I like it to be more uniform. I actually think noise is somewhat necessary to keep images from looking too plasticky. The other shot outside doesn't really show much noise but there are also almost no shadows to deal with in it.

http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b19/jeffnee/th_P1010052.jpg (http://s16.photobucket.com/albums/b19/jeffnee/?action=view&current=P1010052.jpg)

Stills-wise I think it'll be fairly close with my 30D but after shooting with the Canon for a number of years I think the 30D will come out ahead by a bit. I need to still learn a LOT more about the GH1's settings. This is basically taking it out of the box and shooting with it. So there may be a way to solve some of these issues.

I'm uploading a movie to vimeo right now.

Eh. Strike that, I'll blame the head cold for me leaving the iso settings cranked up from last night to shoot in the daylight.

Much better IQ when it's set right.

agreed, that prior post asking for pics was well freaking annoying, like a 12 year old.

anyway, its great to see the camera is starting to ship out, im excited

It looks very sharp and good colors. It would be good that when anybody posts a video on Vimeo or whatever the settings should be included. Like say 1080p, or 720p60, etc. Also any other info like ISO, color settings, etc. It would be very helpful. Thanks.
