Remote Rec Help

Hello Peoples,
Any ideas how i'd go about recording remotely with the GH1?
The standard remote looks like it won't oblige in rec mode :( are there any other options available to me?

I still need a traditional remote to trigger record (for safety reasons) as i wont have hands/digits available to play with the iphone while flying (low)

Will any third party remotes work?

Will it involve cannabalizing!!
