So, I have finally laid hands on a Letus Extreme. I found a good deal on a used one but have not shot with it yet because I do not have the correct ring for my XHA1 or HVX. However, the extreme I purchased came with a ring on it that says EX1. Now, I know that Letus offers an EX1 optimization kit and I just need clarification on what I have. The guy I bought it from did not know what I was asking, so I will ask you guys. I took a picture and posted it at www.photobucket.com/thingsforsale and it is the first picture there. Could you go and take a look at the picture and tell me if the wording that says "EX1" is the optimization kit or if it is simply referring to the ring being the size for an EX1... what does the optimization kit look like when on the Extreme as opposed to an Extreme without one because from what I can tell on letusdirect.com, I have the optimization kit?
thanks

The other part of the optimization kit is the achromat. This is very useful for HVX200, HPX170 and EX1/3's for good edge to edge focus.

so i am missing the achromat? how would i know if i had that part? where would it be located on the adapter?
so, what exactly do i have then as it is right now?
once again, thanks for helping me out as i learn about this all

The achromat is the glass right behind the ring. Unfortunately, there's just no way to tell just from looking at it whether it's the optimized version or not. The fact that the ring is for the EX1 implies that it's the optimization kit, but again there's no way to tell just by inspecting it.

there are tutorials on youtube how you setup the letus on your camera so you might want to check that out.
it shows you everything.

james over at letus walked me through it today and i was able to take pics of the achromat... i was not quite educated enough to tell if it was the opt. kit or just standard size ring but i sent the pics to james and am waiting on his reply so that i will know... i am not sure if anyone cares, but i appreciate all your help with this. as soon as i find out i will post... and by the way, here are the pics: www.photobucket.com/thingsforsale

If it is not the optimized achromat and you try it on an EX-1 the corner to center sharpness will absolutely suck until you get to f5.6 or really f8 on the EX-1

If its the right achromat it will be excellent even wide open.
Can't miss it.
