I was asked to create a shoulder mount to base the back of the RED one tube set up. I made it light and simple.
I took 18 gauge sheet metal and bent it around a 6" steel pipe until it felt comfortable to my shoulder. I then bent another to 1/4" longer to leave room for the padding. I used two 90 degree angle stock pieces and welded them together in the center so I could place them on the bent sheet metal and maintain the comfortable bend. I then welded a mount two inches wide and three inches long, bracing it with 1/4" square stock on the sides and sheet metal on the front. The mounting on the front will allow an easy placement of the mounting bolts for the RED bracket. I finally put 1" foam on the bottom sheet metal with contact cement and then covered it all with leather. I mounted the bottom metal plate to the top with three 1/4"-20 3/8" bolts and nuts so any damage to the padding could be replaced.
Here is the shoulder pad mount:

A view from underneath... Yup, that really is leather.

This mount is going to Blare Media in Fresno. Justin is shooting a feature film and needs it.

Hope this helps you to make one for yourself. It took around an hour to make.
