There are a couple of these on ebay that goes for around $90-100.
I'm not sure about the "crap" factor but the crop-factor should be the same as with the original lens - x2.

I'm waiting until they release the upgraded version, the Kipon Kipinnon.

i asked this in another thread about this same product, but i never got a response, so here it is again. its a multi-part question. first can you use AF nikon lenses with this? 2nd, if so will they Auto Focus? and if they do not auto focus can you use them manually?

I can't imagine that they'd autofocus, there are no electronics in these adapters connecting the lens to the camera. They're just mounts.

ok cool. but will i be able to adjust focus on them at all? even manually? someone told me that if they are AF lenses then i wont be able to adjust focus AT ALL manually. meaning they would just sit there locked. is there any truth to this?

i just received one in the mail today. from a quick test i can focus, but for my DX/G lenses I haven't figured out if I could change the aperture yet as there is no aperture ring on the lenses, so its stuck at the minimum aperture.

Don't forget to change the setting of the camera to allow it to take photos without lens, or the camera will just keep asking you the check whether the lens is properly put on.

Yes you can control focus and aperature if the lens has these features. All DX lenses has no aperature control so the lens is set to a fixed aperature.

I would recommend to use Nikon AF D lenses or others with aperature ring.

Yes those with an aperture ring no problem at all. For DX/G lenses, I just tried doing it the poor men's way - I cut out a small piece of paper, folded it up and stuck it behind the aperture lever to force open the aperture. Works ok but not an recommended approach I guess - if the paper (or whatever you use) falls off and lands on the sensor it may well damage the sensor...

The image is not too bad though I think - from DX Fisheye 10.5. 1/160, ISO1600. Size reduced to make it within the upload limit.:)

im confused, someone else told me you CANNOT use AF lenses with these adapters, the focus will simply lock because it wont be connected to the camera or somethin, and that you have to use MF lenses.

or am i confused, i am under the impression that AF stands for Auto Focus. does it?

All my lenses are Nikon AF lenses, a couple are DX/G lenses. All of them could be used on GH-1 with the adapter I have. Of course autofocusing does not work (the adapter has no electronic components) but you can manual focus with the focus ring.

is there any adapter that can allow for AF with 3rd party lens?

Martti Ekstrand

Doubtful as that would require the adapter to have electronics that translate between Panasonic's AF protocol and the third party lens's protocol.

well there are a few people selling adapters on ebay for around a hundred dollars... is the consensus that this is the best route to pick up an adapter?

There are currently 3 adapters on Ebay for the Nikon lens. All around $80 us. Anyone have experience with any of the vendors or suggestions. I have to order by tomorrow or this weekend at the latest. I'll be using it with the GH1 and Nikon manual lens.

If anyone has used one with success from anywhere, I'd appreciate the vendor and model number.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Do these Nikon adapters allow for digital metering from the GH1?

I have exactly the same adapter and it works fine. of course no AF will work but I got some old glass from 30 years ago and this adapter makes this old glass usable again.

I also got a cmount adapter but all the lenses I got are vignetting so far. so with both adapters I get the x 2 factor because on the c-mount I have to use digital zoom x2 to avoid the black corners.

what I really want is a comparative wide angle with 1:2 or less, and thats a real problem.
The original 14-140 mm lens that came with my GH1 is still the #1 choice for now.

I dont mind a full manual control at all but still have to find some interesting glass.

my nikon 1:1.4 50 mm has an incredibly small FOV but its like a 100mm on the GH1.

maybe I will get a Canon adapter as well and hunt for whats available there....

my adapter cost 40 $ and came from Hongkong.
