Hi!

I had this crazy idea a while ago and I'm considering whether it could be possible or not. The idea was to mount a video camera on an electric train track in order to be able to electronically control the camera movement. I was hoping for smarter/more experienced DIY people in here to give their thoughts on this, is it something worth trying and what kind of things should be considered?

don't forget to turn off the train whistle

It's an interesting idea. First concern would be smoothness. Second would be stability due to weight. Third would be where to purchase a conductor's cap.

:D :D Which color to go with is the toughest decision!

Light blue stripes retain tradition while giving a nod to Gap.

I think this might work better for you

Perhaps you could throw away the train and just use the [curved] track for a dolly

It is really a good notion. I would check out electric train enthusiasts' forums and see what they think. They probably know all about the tracks and what the trains can carry. But in the end I believe smoothness will be very difficult to achieve.
