Has anyone tried this option to record -say- ProRess 422 HQ 1920x1080 through -say- AJA IO HD or Matrox MXO2?

Would we have a better quality / low noise / less compressed 10bit 422 recording/capture by-passing the camera compressors than AVC-I 1080 via P2 cards and converting to ProRess 422 HQ codec via FCP2?

Any thoughts?

Thank you.

While the video would be less compressed in ProRess422 then in AVC-Intra, there would be very little improvement otherwise. AVC-Intra is a very good codec, most of the noise the camera is recording is off the chip and not created by the codec. The HDSDI output would also contain this noise. ProRes422 is higher bit rate and where you would see improvement is in high detail areas of an image.
