What is the best set-up (on camera recording mode and Vegas) to get the best, motion blur free, slow motion? I saw it somewhere (on DVXUser.com) that it's best if you shoot 60i. But what happens if you have 24pa and 60i footage on the timeline, then you slow down the 60i footage, then you want to render your project? You will have to render your 24pa with insert one of the pulldowns but what happens to 60i footage? If you convert it to 24pa what purpose is to shoot 60i? If you convert 60i (slowed down) to 24p, will you have motion-blur again? If I want my final footage to be 24pa avi file?

Many thanks,

Benjamin

I have a segment in my forthcoming book/DVD that's dedicated to this very subject.

The quick answer is, the best results come from shooting 60i and slowing down in post to 24P.

The reason you shoot 60i is because you want to get 60 different motion samples per second... then you play that back at 40% speed, which means Vegas will turn each field into its own frame, giving you frame-accurate slow motion as if you'd shot film at 60fps (although with lower vertical resolution).
