I will be renting an hvx-200a for a music video coming up, we will be putting my SgBlade on it.
I don't really want to get in trouble with the rental house for using tape and leaving residue, but i need something to keep the focus on the GG the entire shoot.
what do you guys suggest i do? Should i just tape it down and clean it after the shoot? Is that the best way to do it, if so, what kind of tape would you recommend?

Use something that doesnt let anything. Like masking tape.

Zacuto make a funny looking thing to clamp off the focus ring. Im not sure how secure it would be, its defiantly quick and easy to adjust the focus but i could see it getting caught on something and pulled off.
Tape works fine, if it does leave a residue then you used a cheap tape. Good gaffa or camera tape wont leave any stuff, and if it does, some strong alcohol (ligher fluid works) on a rag will get it off.

would still go with tape. good gaff tape shouldn't leave residue.

I built a 1/8" phono plug with a series of resistors that keeps the focus on my GG at 2.95'. Google it and you will probably find the instructions online. If not, send me an e-mail and I'll forward you a .pdf. incidentally, my version required a higher resistance to focus properly than the instructions. I'll have to measure it if you are interested.

sounds great guys, I've got some gaff tape i completely forgot about. i'm very excited for the shoot, you'll defiantly be hearing from me with the video in the next month. I wish there was a place to blog the progress of music videos....i'm not sure if the user film section allows that...i PMed an admin but never got back to me.
Oh well, have a great night/day guys!

for zero residue, use paper tape. camera tape. although, gaff is fine as long as you don't leave it on too long, as in for days....

I use high quality electrical tape without issue.
