Is it possible to combine several Veg projects and then render to one file?
I have 5 different segments of a project, each a separate Veg file, that I want to render into a single QuickTime or Windows Media file. Is it possible to link them all together? :-/

You can open multiple instances of Vegas and copy the entire timeline from one to the other. *Or you can render each out and import all five rendered AVIs into a new project and render them together. *You lose a generation that way, though.

..you mean you cant you import a project in vegas like any other file?.. like in ppro, you can import a different project into the project your working on like its a file, and it imports the specified project with all its effects, and transitions and such as an embedded file *that you can slide around on the timeline. *so you could start a new project, and import all the other projects right through the import file box.. it doesnt split up the imported project into its editable layout with cuts and effects control and such, but it brings it in "as is" as one solid file like a movie file.. ("nesting" ) so you just put them end to end or however you want to run them together on the timeline...
vegas is very versatile.. id be suprised if it couldnt do this as well.

Yeah, it would be nice if you could do nests or canisters that way in Vegas, but I don’t believe you can. (Somebody please correct me if I’m wrong!) Probably in the next version . . .
But that you can open up multiple instances of Vegas and work on multiple projects simultaneously is an advantage which is its equivalent, IMHO.
Nesting is something that I've been asking for since I moved from FCP to Vegas. *It didn't happen in version 5, but at NAB, I was told that we should really really expect to see it in the next major version update because "...the next version of Acid will have a nesting capability..."
I guess once this feature is worked and smoothed out in Acid, the Vegas team will take it integrate into Vegas. :)
Personally, I can't wait! :)

thanks for all the insight, especially from you Jive, as you are outta here soon. Bon Voyage!
I never thought I would need this capability, but lo and behold, I did!
All I did was open a second instance of Vegas each time I wanted to add another project. I selected all, copied and then did a "paste insert". Worked OK, but I had a little trouble since each project had different numbers of audio & video tracks.
