Anybody see this yet?

It's like an intelligent search engine...well, more so than Google anyways. I wonder where it's pulling it's data from. Pretty impressive.

I might be wrong, but it appears to be what is known in Comp Sci as an "Expert System" mixed with NPL or syntax translators to maths and statistical application.

In lay terms, Anhar! Even more LAY than that! :)

Do you think it's safe to call this a more complete sw-based replacement for the encyclopedia? One that, of course, can cross-reference with itself, do on-the-fly calculations, and predict statistical outcomes, among other things. I think it's kinda cool that it can interpret data, and not just offer/search for it. Basically like an easy-to-understand, accessible, web-based T.A. lol

I don't currently think (IMHO) it is a replacement for an encyclopaedia, since an encyclopaedia and Wolfram are two different concepts, one is used to simply return fixed data based on a search, where as this is more about doing calculations on data.

Use both, but understand their use in context:

Say you wanted to know the population facts and figure of China, then Wiki would be faster and more in depth

But say you wanted to now calculate different scenarios of population growth then use Wolfram to do statistical calculations using its internal data stores about the population of China

Its certainly a very interesting project, I've already bookmarked it :D
