Hey guys...today is my first time using after effects. i Downloaded the trial version to do a project i have shooting on the weekend. Ok so i needed to learn to do some effects and i looked up some tutorials and learned it fine...however when i exported it as avi (uncompressed) it looks like crap. the quality is greatly reduced and its quite pixelated.

My goal is to be able to edit the clips that need effects and bring it back into premiere pro cs3. Is this how it is done? I'm thinking i cut the whole thing in Premiere. Export the clips i need effects on, as an AVI and put the effects on them and bring it back into Priemiere.
Or should I cut it in premiere and export the entire edit as an avi, apply the effects to wherever and export from there? I dont know...but either way when i tried exporting from AE as an avi it looks like pixelated crap.

How should i be exporting ? what settigns should i be using?

thanks for any help.

Edit: I also didnt see a "render" tab as in Premiere...i just did the effect and exported. could this be the issue?

Darren.

In After Effects, don't use that File > Export dialog execpt for certain specific cases (like SWF). Instead, highlight the composition you want, then choose Composition > Make Movie, or hit Ctrl+M or Apple+M.

This brings up the render queue. From the Render Settings dropdown, choose 'Best', and in the Output Module choose 'Lossless' (or click the 'link' bit to customize the settings).

hey guys...i didnt want to start a new thread so i'm gonna ask here. I always hear people saying they cut in premier then colour grade in AE. i want to attempt this..but how do i go about it? do i save the whole premiere file that is already cut as an AVI and import in AE? or save each avi shot(clip) and import EACH clip into AE. I ask cuz if i'm thinking if i save the enitre thing then how do i Colour grade each shot??
