Hey guys,

We bought a Letus35 Extreme with the HVX200 at the office last summer. We don't use it often, and it had been awhile since we used it, but a couple weeks ago, we started having this weird problem.

There is this sort of crap filter in front of the image and it won't go away. You know, just like when you forget to turn on the engine the first time you use it, well the same effect is there full-time. And yes, we changed the batteries to see if this was the problem.

I've uploaded a shot on Vimeo. Unfortunately the compression covers this effect a bit, but you'll still be able to see it if you look closely.

Let me know if you know how to fix this problem.

Are you using fast shutter speeds or fstop over a 5.6?

Yes actually, last time we shot at f2.8 and used a 1/2000 shutter speed because we needed super slowmo footage.

Is that the problem ? If so, what are the max settings I can use ?

I wouldn't go over 1/100 shutter speed.... but your results may vary.
Do some test shots outdoors and you'll see the difference.

The faster the shutter speed, the more noticable the grain on the adapter will be because you don't have any motion blur to hide it.

1/2000 shutter won't help your slow motion unless you have a camera that shoots 2000fps...

if using a slower shutter doesn't fix your problem, check for dust/filth/muck on the prism, condenser, or any other glass present between your lens and the gg. that can show up like grain but will be static.

i once had the same problem with a p+s mini35. i had to take it apart and clean every single mirror and glass surface inside. it was a rental and looked as if the last person who rented it had used it as a bong. filthy.

The Lex is starting to be more and more of a pain in the ass for me. I'm ordering the Blade next week to avoid issues like this one and many others I am having.

we started having this weird problem.

it's not a problem, it's totally Normal.

remember the disadvantages for vigrating adapters is to use high shutter speed or stopping down. but instead you only lose 0.5 stops of light...remember!

what does the half stop light loss have to do with vibrating? the ultimate is a spinner with same light loss. the m2e is a spinner with less light loss.

grain freeze is a limitation of vibrating gg yes, but not related to light loss....

well yeah, just trying to emphasise the advantages and disadvantages. the light loss has nothing to do with vibrating GG
