I am looking to buy a decent adapter for my JVC HD110. I am leaning towards the new Red Rock Encores. But I need to make sure the adapters are made to work very good with the removable bayonet lens cameras. I don't see much posted anywhere about 35 adapters and the JVC cams. I know this is a Panasonic site lol. I own them too. It would be nice to learn about peoples experiences with the JVC's.

Each day I flip flop back and forth trying to decide which adapter I a going to buy. I have been reading and researching for 3 months now. I need the best bang for the buck and pro quality... Under $2K for sure. 1000 to 1500 would even be better... So many adapter, so little time (and money)

Long, long ago Letus made an adapter with a relay lens for the JVC cameras. While they're hard to find, has about a 1.5x magnification, and eats a stop to a stop and a half, you get back a lot of flexibility and light by being able to take off the giant Fuji lens. I had one, but it took me months and months to find it.

When I recently sold the rig, that adapter was the reason I was able to cash out as much as I did!

My experience was thus: that Fuji lens was great by itself, and for indoors shooting you can't focus or really use the adapter at all without horribly bright lights (which cause their own problems) - I just nixed it inside no matter how much the DP wanted to play around. It never came off.

Outdoors, the adapter was a lot more useful, but still specific in what it offered. There's a reason so many of the test vids are tree branches and flowers.

I'd suggest you rent a Letus (or Redrock, or whatever, along with a 28/50/85mm lenses) for a day, shoot an indoor dialogue scene and an outdoor one, and try it yourself. The hundred bucks you spend will be worth more than any amount of typing I can do!
