Olympus-Zuiko 11-22 f2.8-3.5

Is it just me or this is the only lens for a relatively fast wide angle?

Tokina 11-16/2.8 AT-X (Nikon or Canon)

Same Wide, Faster, 500.00 bucks, awesome lens. Con: Aperture control non-existant on the lens barrell. You'll need to do some workarounds or always use it at wide open (near-to) aperture.

Ok. That would be interesting with something like Douglas Underdahl's Nikon G/DX lens mount for the Red 1 (and for sure a lens you'll be happy to use on the Scarlet s35 too).
No other options, really?

I use the Tokina 11-16 on RED @ 4K, couldn't be more happier, really.

But yeah, someone needs to adopt Dougals' format for the pin. I've got it for the RED and it works pretty well.

Olympus Zuiko 12-60mm 2.8-3.5... Nice
" " " 14-35mm F2 constant... Very nice but heavy on the wallet
" " " 14-54mm MK II, this should have auto focus too
Panny/Leica 14-50mm 2.8-3.5

Also this time-lapse clip is showing a Schneider Cinegon 10mm/F1.8 on a G1 ( this guy does some great work ), could be a possibility if you could pick up an adapter.

I'm looking at the Oly 11-22mm, it's a good looking lens for the price.

Panasonic is supposed to have a 20mm f1.7 MFT lens ready this autumn. Haven't heard what it's supposed to cost though.

Tokina 11-16/2.8, tried it today.

Definitely need an Iris Pin to control it but it's pretty awesome indoors and out. I can settle with it personally.

Pancake means it is quite flat, like a pancake or a coin in relative terms.

If I had this lens and no other camera body, is there some way to control the aperture? Or would I be stuck with whatever it was set at out of the box?

I asked Douglas Underdahl (http://www.longvalleyequip.com/) about modifying Tokina like what he did when mounted on Red. Here's his answer:

"Have to wait and see what lens mount adapters they make available, but with it's short flange focal distance, there should be opportunities for many adapters."

by flat (pancake lens)
does it mean just the size of the lens?
or the quality of it?
thanks

Just size. Street photographers and others who care about the overall size and/or weight of a camera are the ones typically interested in this type of lens.

Can somebody please tell me what an Iris pin is? Am I right in assuming it is a workaround to allow you to control the iris on a lens without a manual iris ring?

Slipslide,
Yes!
Similar to the 16-9 (http://www.16-9.net/) approach.

Peter, what camera body were those taken with? Also, if it is a 4/3 sensor, could you post a portrait shot of a person at around 3 feet and around 1 foot?
