I shot a video using the Canon HF10 in XP+ mode, and importing/editing using Imovie.
Then making the DVD on IDVD the video does not look the same quality as it does on the camera. I tried different settings but can't seem to get it look the way I want. any ideas?

if it's a standard definition dvd, it'll never look anywhere near as good as the original.

what bitrate are you encoding the dvd at? vbr or cbr? two-pass encoding?

I know it is 2 encoding on Idvd. two passing code, I think cbr. rate im encoding. 30 fps that would explain why the dvd looks crappy. oh boy.

i don't see how the framerate should be an issue, unless it's different from what you shot it at? or you shot it as interlaced, and now it's 30p?

two-pass is good, cbr should work, but one of the most important metrics is the bitrate it was encoded at... we still need to hear that number.
