I dont know if this was luck or just a good choice in cameras. I just ordered the EX1 camera and on my way home from the bank i get a phone call saying there is a client who wants to do a shoot down in my area and only with a ex1 camera not the z1 or z7 which was my first original choice. i took the plunge and it looks like my decision is the right one.
They dont want to shoot with the Z1 because it is HDV not full HD. imagine if i had gone and forked out all this money and bought a Z7 and then get a call saying they only want a EX1. the catch is that the camera needs to be here yesterday, so we will have to go and source a rental from somewhere. i hope they can postpone.
im not bad mouthing the z7, i have never owned a z7 but i have used it and i know it is a mighty little beast of a machine. infact it really comes down to what you do with it and who your clients are, for me its freelance and clients want the latest camera, but for a production house the Z7 lets you choose your format, DV, HDV etc and it records to tape and hard drive at same time.
look at your client base and read as much information as you can from places like dvxuser and others then make your decision from an informed point of view.:happy:
