I need slo mo control for my kids

I found myself laughing. The slo-mo, the lens choices, and the boomy audio made the toddler seem like a very cute, happy GIANT. Like the shot with the sky and clouds in the bg. Reminds me of the opening sequence to WORLD ACCORDING TO GARP.

Manual focus, right???

Looking good. I won't be able to wait another month.

It was manual focus, I used a canon FD lens. (50mm f1.8 @ about a 4-f5.6)

Wow, this camera handles manual lenses great. Not noticing any jello and the 60P looked fantastic.

Nice, Hunter, thanks for this.

(That lens was effectively "100mm" on the GH1, correct?)

Wow I downloaded the clip. VERY impressive! I usually shoot 60p for 24p slowdown with my JVC HD-250s and this looked amazing. Sure, very minor macroblocking, but still amazing.

dcloud- yes there are some artifacts on the pink color in the original footage. Just less.

Great camera work for handeheld '100mm'

I'm assuming wide open? (1.8)

Absolutely loving the rolling shutter on this... Good job Panasonic (and Hunter of course)

This looks very nice Hunter. I downloaded the footage and I can’t get over how much the cloud behind her does not blow out. It looks almost green screened. I did see some slight macro blocking on her pant leg. The background blur looks real nice also.

Very interesting test. There's a short bit where it looks bad in the pink pants, but the rest of it is looking good. It is interesting to see how the codec handles the camera movement. Thank you very much for making the footage available!

Hi Matthew- actually I think the widest I went was f4- some of those shots were at f16 too.

IMO, for some reason, GH1's footage looks worse on Vimeo than other cameras.

I'd like to see some slomo with 1/100 shutter. The narrow shutter makes it hard to judge.

BTW, "film... it's more fun" is nice.

Slow-Mo + High Shutter is friggin' AWESOME on this camera, man. I honestly and SERIOUSLY leaning toward using 720/60P for everything. Never leaving that mode.

Kholi, you mean you'd shoot everything at 720p60, even for non-overcrank shots? Then do some work in post to either use the extra frames or discard them?

whoa whoa whoa look at that dynamic range 00:31-00:45 with the sun behind her, then tilts right down to the shadowy ground and exposure is still acceptable.

whoa whoa whoa look at that dynamic range 00:31-00:45 with the sun behind her, then tilts right down to the shadowy ground and exposure is still acceptable.I was wondering when someone was going to bring that to the forefront. I had mentioned in another thread that it almost looked faked...like bluescreened. I saw an exact shot like that in the last Clint Eatwood trailer (forgot the name of the movie..."El Camino" I think) where the camera caught the same exact type of shot on Eastwood's face with the clouds behind him. I always thought that shot was cool looking...and then there is this.......... This looks just as good... Seriously.

I know Panasonic has a "keep faces well exposed against bright backgrounds" mode for stills, and I guess that's happening here, but the transition from that to the darker ground seems to happen without any transition. Maybe it would be more noticable in the original footage?

> Slow-Mo + High Shutter is friggin' AWESOME

Yes, yes it is. But it's also not the norm for overcranking. I'd like to see some 60fps w/ a 180 degree shutter to help make an accurate comparison.

(although I don't really need to, I'm still gonna get one once they come in...!)

Well they probably had a bounce board for Eastwood. Which even the smallest bounce here would just take the toddler shots to a whole-nutha-level
