Hi guys,

I have settled on the EX1 (after a huge struggle). All I need now is the best place to buy one of these cams. Do you suggest I buy from Vistek or is there a better place for Canadians? I'm in BC.

Thanks! :Drogar-Happy(DBG):

I bought mine at vistek a little while ago but I only paid $6900.00. It seems the price went up a bit. Although they seem to be the only game in town (Toronto).

In Vancouver you have Matrix Video ( Genisis or something like that) great onsite demos.
Also Comercial Electronics, and of course Leos Cameras.

Provision.
Stephan and Stephan have the best support I've found and nobody beats their rental prices. One Stephan worked for matrix for years before starting his own shop. Seriously, I just bought a camera from then instead of the states because of how well they look after me when I have shoots.

I live in Saskatchewan and so the choices are not pretty.

There is Matrix dealer in Regina, however their prices are out this world and so is their attitude. They do not want to see any other customer other than from a Television Studio or big budget Film Company.

I next tried Videoscope and they were eager to work a deal. The attitude of the Sales staff is top notch. So after many phone calls and e-mails we ran into Sony Canada's dealer protection policy. Yes I could by from Videoscope provided that it is purchased in their province by a resident living in that province, in my case Toronto Ontario. They would not permit a sale even if I took a flight to Toronto and purchased it as a SK resident. Thank you very much Sony.

Third try and success with Vistek. The sales staff is pretty good and mostly willing to work for the customer. Their prices last October at least, were on par with B&H in New York after exchange, duty and FedEX shipping. So I purchased my Sony EX3 from Vistek and the whole deal proceeded as one would expect. Sony Canada recieved my warranty registration and mailed out the promotional 8G SxS card within two weeks. I am a happy EX3 owner.

Good look in your dealings, Cheers!

P.S. Forgot mention that the Canadian price of the EX3 went up $3800 since I purchased at the end of October 2008. The Canadian dollar and the Japanese Yen went south after the global economy tanked.

Yee ... Gaads, I bought my EX3 from Vistek for $9100. I figured prices would increase but this is ridiculous. A big part of the Canadian dollar which dropped from US par last fall to roughly 80 cents at this time. What a tough choice you are faced with.
