Spooked TV- Sci Fi Channel joined a creative alliance with Jonathan Hauser's CINEMEK G35 adapter company and Steve Weiss's ZACUTO USA on putting together an EPIC REALITY camera package.

One that allows the ease of shooting REALITY television but able to switch to an EPIC film style shoot in virtually minutes. "This is the future " stated Philip Adrian Booth , D.P of feature films for Sony, Paramount and Lionsgate. "We are very excited working with Zacuto and Cinemek and with creating some mind blowing new content!"

Steve Weiss of Zacuto USA met with and was very impressed with filmmakers, twin brothers Philip Adrian Booth & Christopher Saint Booth and the stellar work they are doing. "These guys are really shooters. They do television but with the look of a Francis Ford Coppola picture. It's called "Spooked TV" and it's on the Sci Fi channel, you've got to see it. Philip and Christopher are doing some amazing work. Very cinematic and film like using the Cinemek G35, HVX200 and Zacuto gear to hold it together. I would highly recommend watching it. It made me stop what I was doing at NAB and really check it out. These twin brothers are real shooters.

Hey
I saw your photo your camera set up on here. I wanted to know if you have any kind of counter weight on your rig? You have so much stuff, and it looks like its all in front of your shoulder mount. Is all the weight on your arms?

Hey Steve Bogda, Oh yeah , counter weight is important , i slide the shoulder pad underneath the center of gravity, which is the EX1 and Cinemek lens area. Then i have the Battery packs, and wireless mikes on a cradle on rods, similar to the Zacuto double mount but it does not make the the rig 30 inches long. I can send you some picts if you are interested, i have been working a while with Zacuto on this dilemma and with coming up with feet , so you can lose the beast when you need to, lol, Right now most rigs sit on the batteries when placed on the ground,
Cheers and guys send us some feedback on potential feet concepts!

Thanks for all the PMs everybody, we 'll see you at CINE GEAR EXPO, it will be a blast.

NAB was strong but Cine Gear Expo was fantastic and it gave us a lot of time to meet a lot of great "film" innovators, that were not at the NAB. In addition to the
CINEMEK-ZACUTO-EX1 combo, a good consideration would be to potentially integrate Karl Horn's HIP CAM from CINETECH. This would take the weight off of the front end entirely, with no counter balance issues. "Unlimited Camera Payload "as Karl states. This is super cool! Imagine, Adapter heavy cameras simply float.
I had used an older model on our features, but the updated suspension rod is simply amazing , a shock absorber takes all the weight.

Check this out, it was originally designed for heavy 35mm film cameras.

I love the whole vibe here Phil.
This is some great key art / design.
You guys do this yourselves or have someone else do this kind of thing.

Thank you very much , my brother does most of all the Key Art himself, we love the comic book style but use it to tell True Ghost Stories resulting from historic tragedies.
I don't want to go off topic too much, but i posted another one of ours, DARKPLACE for you to see, starring Matthew Mc'Grory the giant from Devil's Rejects, 1000 Corpses, it was his last film, lovely man! Gritty huh? Cheers

P.S.
Oh, I love the way u mix Jack and/or Stanley in the profile picts , very cool!

Hi Phil. Newbie here. Don't mean to waste your time, but I was wondering... how much would a rig like that cost?

DEPTH OF PHIL

Great question, i don't even dare add all the individual parts up. lol Hmm, I answered that on another post, one car, two girlfriends!
Off the top of my head somewhere around $20K as seen in the top pictures with G35 and lenses the first page of the thread , but i tell you it is a thing of beauty like Clint's Gran Torino. It was a lot of fun putting it together and took a great deal of focus and time. The funny thing we're still modifying it as we speak.

It is designed to be modular, the cool thing is it will fit any camera and any adapter. You might need a low riser or longer rod extensions but i could mount my DSLR on the base plate and keep the big rig on the tripod. Here is the same base plate / shoulder mount EX1 kit without the adapter in a different configuration.

Thanks for your interest mate.

Hello, i just wanted to chime in quickly and let everyone know i received the HR1 and WOW!!! The build quality is BIGTIME!! THe QR plate and mechanism is gorgeous and well crafted. The rig itself is Amazing , Solid and light, i have played around with it for only about 6 hours , learned it and got it balanced perfectly! This rig features a belt driven turn handle and rotating swivel plate allowing complete dutch roll axis and 360 spin, (you will need to remove side flags and eye brow for that) It feels more like a motion control rig or a steadi cam than a handheld rig!

I will post more later including video and actual use footage as the main shoot progresses through SEPTEMBER! Here are some quick picts from initial setup up for reference prototype purposes! Constantine, GREAT DESIGN, you obviously have experience with Steadi cam designs and movement, this is like choreography , and its a sexy beast !
