Hey all,
since I have decided to go with the dvx 100a, I now have no use for the Pinnacle Liquid Edition I have currently,No 24p support. From what I have read here, It seems as though I have made the right choice this time.Unless I can unload my Pinnacle software ;D So I went ahead and bought vegas 5, it comes with Acid screenblast and I also picked up boris fx 7. I am running a Dell dimension XPS Generation 3 with a 3.2 P4 with a a gig of RAM and plenty of hard drive space.Any advice on this new program would be appreciated. It is supposed to come with a couple of dvd tutorials. I am expreienced in Avid Xpress Pro, Avid Newscutter, Pinnacle Liquid, And a little bit of knowledge on Final Cut Pro, although very limited. I am guessing I should not have too much of a problem jumping right in and editing????? On a side note, anyone interested in My liquid Edition software feel free to drop me a line here.It comes with hollywood fx and titledeko pro.Take care everyone.

Sounds like you’ve got quite a background already.

I’d only caution you that Vegas approaches editing from a very different perspective than do those other programs, so it might not seem “intuitive” to you at first. *Don’t get frustrated – it’s all there and more; it’s just in a different place from what you’re used to.

As for Vegas tutorials, my standard answer:

Go to www.vasst.com. *Much material here.

Check out Douglas Spotted Eagle’s series of books and DVDs.

Also check out Gary Kleiner’s well-regarded Vegas companion series, now for Vegas 5.

After that, DO check out Ultimate S from VASST, giving you over 50 tools for Vegas, and my own Celluloid, also from VASST, giving you 15 film looks and other conversion tools. (See the link below).

Selling my Vegas Training DVDs by Gary Kleiner. Very informative! 2 DVDs (3 hours long). I paid 48.50 +tax for it. I will sell it for 29.95 + shipping. Dvds are in brand new condition. Only selling because I'm done wih it and don't need it anymore.

Remember, though, that those discs are for Vegas 4. Most of it still applies, but there might be a few variances.

A warning to anyone thinking of using Boris 7 with Vegas:

The Boris implementation into Vegas sucks! From within Boris, you can only preview the first frame of the clip where Boris is applied and you have to close Boris (closing the keyfaming interface too) just to see the result within Vegas. This makes it just about worthless whenever two or more keyframes are needed. You're better off using Boris as a stand alone software. The standalone version works perfect. Please someone correct me if this has been changed. I was sorely disappointed with the version I bought and I'm waiting impatiently for an update.
