I have a question about Magic Bullet for Vegas 5... I know the looksuite is included, but what about the letterboxer, the prgressive scan presets, etc?

I've heard these are not included... is this true?

That's in Magic Bullet for Editors. Vegas 5 only comes with the Looks suite.

Thanks for the post (and cheap plug!) BTW David, sorry for sounding ungrateful for not acknowledging it before! *;)

Cool. Thanks Barry. (Can I call you Bazza? No, okay, fair enough!) ;)

I always thought it was "Bazzer"? I don't quite understand what it means... When at Westwood I worked with many British programmers and management guys, and they all tended to call me Bazzer, which I wasn't sure was an insult or not (I learned a *lot* of British words back then). Then when we did an episode for a British show "Travel Sick" here, those guys started calling me that too... must be a British slang term...

Well, if "Doctor Who" has tought me anything other than how to defeat papier mache aliens, it's that Brits sometimes pronounce the "a" at the end of the word as "er." *

;D

Just looked on their website... there are only two versions of Magic Bullet, the 'suite' for After Effects, and the 'editors' package for Vegas, Prem Pro, FCP, etc. So their ISN'T a different version for the editors that allows the letterboxer, etc... :(

You don't need a plugin to letterbox. Bring your 4:3 footage into Vegas' Event Pan/Crop window and choose the "16:9 Widescreen..." or "Academy 1.85:1" presets. You can also manually change the height window of the size setting in Event Pan/Crop to get 2.35:1 or custom letterbox sizes. Enter a height close to 300 and you'll get the cinemascope look.

I'm not really sure what you're saying. The Looks suite which comes with Vegas 5 is just a looks suite. It's not Magic Bullet for Editors.

But what was implied in the first reply was that there were three versions of MB - the standard suite for After Effects (That has everything), Magic Bullet for Editors, and the Magic Bullet looks suite on its own (For Vegas?).

But on the website, Magic Bullet for Editors ONLY contains the looks suite - none of the other features.

I think that Vegas doesn't contain the 'Misfire' package that does all the film damage. FCP, and Premiere both have it, but Red Giant (the boys & girls who make MB) didn't think it was needed in Vegas, due to the fairly comprehensive 'film damage' effects that are built-into the NLE itself.

Not in any version of Magic Bullet Editors. For those you need the full $1000 version of Magic Bullet Suite...

Correct, according to their site.
