I've had Vegas5 for 3 days and decided I need a bit of help so I just now ordered "Vegas 5 Editing Workshop (DV Expert)
by Douglas Spotted Eagle".
Aside from this work, are there any other books/products I might need to round out my Vegas education, or should this just about cover it?
Also, I want to author DVD vids and already have a decent burner, Nero Burning ROM 6.6 and Studio 9.3+. Should I be able to get good results without spending big bucks on DVD Achitect or some other authoring tool? If not, what should I look for in a budget-minded tool? Suggestions for reading material on encoding for video, specifically related to the latest/greatest codecs, are also appreciated.

Thanks!

Well, to be honest, you should have bought the Vegas 5 production bundle, including DVD Architect 2. *It's not sold separately, and it comes with the Dolby Digital 5.1 encoder, which Vegas alone does not have (to say nothing of the Boris Graffiti LE plugin). *If there's any way for you to swing that still, you'll be in better shape. *The Dolby Digital encoder costs over $250 by itself.

You should get Doug's comanion DVD set as well, and check out the VASST website (www.vasst.com) for a plethora of other products.

Also check out Gary Kleiner's Vegas 5 Companion.

Among all of that, you've got a wealth of Vegas information accessible to those at any level of editing and Vegas experience.
