I just rendered a 12 sec clip in 24p Wide Screen. It was shot in 24p also. I rendered using WMV9 at 1mps and when it plays back in WMP its 3x4 not 16x9. What am I doing wrong.

Did you apply a mask on the top track? (Use PAN and CROP template)

No. I went to the raw clip on my HD and clicked on it, and it plays fine in WMP, but when I prerender in WS 24p and render as WMV9 and play it again, its 3x4. :-/

Was your project widescreen? Was the render setting widescreen?

Yep. Select Render DV Wide screen 24p . Once that was done, I went to render as WMV9 1 mps and I also rendered one using the default templete.

I double check the Media Properties, and the clip on the Timeline shows DV Wide Screen 24p. Scratching my head..

OK. Gary K suggested I do 720 HD render and this did work. Its now plays back in Wide Screen in WMP. Only problem, is it plays back black for aprox 5sec until the clip starts.

Dang. Iam a dumb ass today. I thought the clip look completed highlighted and I was skipping over about 4 sec of it. Thats the reason for the delay in playback in WMP. :-[

Does the rendered footage look squished? Is the Stretch video to output frame size box checked in the dialog used to save the render? That will make it ugly 4x3.

Yeah, that's why I asked if it was shot in squeeze mode. Look at that box and make sure it's not checked. As long as you're rendering Widescreen, it should do it for you. It will aslo cut down the render time from doing it in 720 HD.
