hi we shoot events with 3 SD cameras these days, and now we are planning to move on to HD. what we do these days - we connect 3 cameras to a switcher, that gives final output to a DV Recorder and one back-up recorder with that, plus we record backup tapes in all the cameras individually.
how we will handle all that with P2, we are considering buying 2 HPX300 cameras, not sure about the switcher and storage?
budget is around 30,000 to 40,000 for all that.

Do you need rear lens controls, tripods etc?

Take a llok at the AV-HS400 switcher. You could do this easily with HPX170s, with rear lens controls an 8" monitors for VFs.

Might cost a little more if you go with the HPX300 and need tripods, rear lens controls and the larger VF monitors.

Let us know and we can give you a list,

we have lots of tripods and dollies and stuff like that(we have many Panasonic AG DVC 200), and we dont need rear lens controls,we have everything for SD but not for HD. we have hvx200a and a JVC HDV and do 2 camera shoots on different cameras, but need little bigger cameras for shoulder camera work too,i think we need
1. 2 hpx 300
2. switcher
3. cables from cameras to switcher
4. at least 5 p2 cards bigger the better (for both camera's backup and then download to a laptop may be)
5. 3 monitors = two preview and 1 final output monitor
6. one HD tape recorder (dont know which one good for HD)
thanks

Okay so

2 HPX300 X $10,700, you have tripod plates, power supplies and tripods from the DVC200

1 AV-SW400 $11890

10 X $625 32 GB E series card
1 AG-HPG20 P2 Portable @ $5295.

I am sure if you go to any of the websites that price these things you will find that this can easily come into your price range. The cables that you use for the DVC200 would work for these cameras, simple BNC to BNC to carry the signals back, but it will be HD/SDI, not plain old video. I put 10 P2 cards in the mix so that the P2 Portable would have something to record to. I am assuming that you are a US customer.

All the best,

Jan
