Will The Dimension 3000 from Dell work well with Vegas? It's 2.8 ghz and it's CHEAP!
Thanks

Anything running Windows XP will run Vegas, though you're better off with a Pentium 4 and as much memory as you can get.

It should work fine but it's not going to be the smoking machine. What is your budget? (The 3000's are running around $539 to $789) And what level of usage will you require? Render times are going to be brutal.

The beauty of Vegas is that it'll run well on just about anything. Though, as John said, render times can be a bitch. That part of it doesn't bother me, though. I set it up to render and then go get some lunch.

You do know that adds to the time, right . . . ? :o

Ya, but seconds to the minutes as far as I can tell. The new comp (Dell Prec Pent XEON) is superfast. I have no complaints. :)

Yeah, I'm upgrading to a dual-Xeon system soon. ;D

Nice.
It's fast. I like it compared to my stolen Dell P4 (You have to get the Gig of Ram though) :P

I'm building it myself. I already have a gig and half; I'll probably get another 512 or 1GB stick.

we're about to get our second dual xeon here, and I'm working on a request for a v-lan to allow network rendering in my edit room. If we finally get our testing system in addition, I'll have a 2 gig dual 2.4, a 4 gig dual 3.2 and a single 1 gig 2.8 available for rendering.
Talk about overkill~! Anyone wanna outsource some rendering? :P
