Hello!!!
Everyone of you knows that after capture process is finished, it takes too much space on the hard disk because of AVI DV format. For example, my captured video in the same format /up to 90 minutes/ is approx. 20 GBytes!!! But now I found "CyberLink PowerEncoder MPEG4 AVC Edition" - this program is a miracle!!! It captures with realtime converting in MPEG-1,-2, H264, DivX formats. That means that it converts your Cam video BEFORE it is placed on your hard disk! When I choose an option to capture into MPEG /-1 or -2/ format from my DV /or DVX/ cam, the size of new captured MPEG video file is less than 1Gbyte, and the quality is the same as in AVI DV format. Ok,theoreticaly it is ALMOST the same, but if somebody's eyes can see the difference, just let me know! Try this program by CyberLink!!! Very COOL!!!!!! Now you can save tons of video on your hard disk for further editing!
And share your impressions!

I dunno . . . it's going to be pretty hard to do frame-accurate editing with that much compression. Not to mention what it might do to the color space.

Yeah, personally I would rather keep my footage in the highest quality while editing. however, for a final formatt for archiving, that might be a good idea. I am working on a short right now and am working with lots of uncompressed 1280x720P footage. you think 20 gigs for 90min is bad, try 2gigs per minute. Truthfully, hard drive space has become so cheap, you might as well use it.
