any1 have an idea why vegas will preview out to tapedecksony(GVD_1000) but not when i connect the firewire link to the dvtv?
help fast before i send it back!

The TV doesn't have the software to decode the DV.

the tv didnt come with any software, tis a sylvania 13" dvtv with firewire input, was going to use as my preview in vegas

I can't find any info on this TV which would lead me to believe it could decode and display DV signal. Not something you would expect in a $75 TV.

I'm not sure how you got the Sylvania TV model number if it is.
Something is fishy. Looks like the DELVCAM TV at this link should do the conversion, but where did the Sylvania info come from?

No, at the TOP, where it says "Device." You should have "OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394/DV." If you don't click the down arrow and select it.

Maybe you need to select the proper input on the TV. I don't think it will be a channel search. No idea what it might be called. DV in? Don't know.

no switches on the back just firewire hole
two buttons on front green for firewire red for yccv

I do believe that input is for HDTV ASTC set top boxes so that would make it and MPEG-TS input not DV
