I thought I would make this thread in order to help get me moving. It will most likely end up as an Exhibition entry.
My pitch has been accepted.
May 04, 2009
The script has been finished. Written by myself and Doug Sinclair.
It went through many changes along the way and we are both pretty happy with how it turned out.

Thanks, Susanne. I really use these threads as a way to help get me in gear. Otherwise I tend to sit back and never make anything. This will also most likely end up as a non compete.
I took a break from last Fest and did a little short that someone else wrote on the side.
BTW, there are many here with far more DVXFest experience.
And a better track record as well. I'm sure they would have a more interesting tale to tell.
PS- So when are you guys entering again? :)

At the moment we trying to survive the economical crisis from month to month. So there is no money for filmmaking at the moment. Although we trying to put some little money away for our own camera. When we will get the camera, it will be easier. On the other hand we are involved in a non dvxuser filmproject, where we are making some experience. Next weekend I will be at the 'International Oberhausen Filmfestival'. We didn't make it in the competition, but we will show 'Red Shoes' in the open screening. Before they show it, I have to present our film in front of the audience. So it will be a good possibility for making festival experience. :Drogar-Happy(DBG):

Jason,
Johnson's complaining in Horrigan's QF thread about us not green lighting O3 for Quest Fest. I'm not sure he bought your explanation about it not fitting the theme. Afraid he sees through our true motivations about their production value being too intimidating to other contestants. I agree with the argument you made in the MOd forum that we would see a precipitous drop in contestants, both in new conestants and drop outs if Fat Monster were to enter. Fat Monster must be kept out of future DVXfests at all costs.
Anway, Jason, just FYI. I sense more subtle hints and mentions by Johnson that we've excluded FM as he attempts to work the forum into a frenzy demanding that he be allowed to participate.
Glad we have this Mod Forum where we can discuss senstitive matters like this in complete confidence.

Got back from the caves a little while ago. The owner is a great guy who has given us the green light and is willing to help us in any way possible.
I shot a couple of test shots with zero extra light. Needless to say the footage is quite dark but it was a nice test. The caves are lit by the odd light bulb here and there so it's not terrible. We will have to bring in the odd light though.
I've recut the teaser and added in a couple of scenes that I shot today as a test. You get a sneak peek at the mask setup that I'm going with on this one.

Thanks for all the comments and well wishes but I'll most likely have to bow out of this one. My Mom has been hospitalized with pancreatic cancer and she is going down fast. :(
I spoke a bit about it in the cafe, she doesn't have long. Obviously I want to spend as much time with her as possible so that rules me out.
The filmmaker in me still managed to take a day and shoot RONALD (http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?t=174498)
I had promised a few people that we would enter and I didn't want to let them down.
It won't be in this Festival though.
Thanks for all the support.
PS - Am I the only one who made a teaser without making the actual film? :)
I still hope to finish 'Save Our Ship' later this summer, if possible. The location is too good to pass up. Maybe by August.

Dude, that sucks. My stepmother was given six months to live...two years ago! You never know what God has planned, if you believe in God or a god of some sort. Granted, she probably won't be with us this time next year.
Take it easy bro, and I do believe in God so I'll drop a few lines to the Big Guy for your mom.

Thanks again, guys. Things are getting better as time marches on.
I'm hoping to watch some wicked entries in the next few days.
I plan on watching and commenting on all of them once again.
I usually state something I liked and something I didn't, and then move on.
Unless the entry is pure awesomeness! :)
Once again, I really appreciate all the condolences.
