Hi, does anyone know what would be the least expensive hd semi-pro or pro camera out on the market now? I think it could be the xh-a1 but I could very easily be wrong about that.

it is just a matter of what you classify as HD semi-pro...

if XH-a1 gets the "HD semi-pro" status by your standards, then it is the cheapest...

for me the cheapest HD semi-pro camera is the Sony EX1, again, just a matter of standards.

The HDR-FX1 is widely used for professional purposes. Used, they are often selling for under $2000 nowadays. That's pretty low cost for what the camera is capable of.

If you're ok with tape and you want a shoulder mount camcorder, JVC's GY-HD200UB is a really good value. $3995 with a 16x Fujinon lens.

I use the XH-A1 on a few cable network shows. It's brilliant, and in the right hands, the picture can smoke the HVX200 for HD broadcast. Of course, I've also used an HV30 and I think a sony cybershot's video recording weaseled it's way onto one of the shows...
