Hello. This is the problem I'm having. I have a project that is 1hr 53mins in length. I'm rendering it out with the dvda 24p widscreen template. When finished the file is 5.6 gigs. I was under the impression that you can fit 2hrs of DVD quality videos on a 4.7 gig disk. Do I need to modify the defalt template to make the video fit? ??? thanks, mark.

You should be able to do it in the "Optimze Disk" dialogue in DVD-A.

DVD quality is a subjective term. Hollywood DVD's are not 4.7gig single layer disc like what you and I and most other people use. They top out at about 9gigs per side of disc, as dual layer DVD's. Therefore, yes, you can fit 2hrs of video on a DVD, you could probably fit 3 if you wanted, however, your movie quality will have to be compressed. I'd say for a 1hr 50min file your bitrate is going to be down around 5mbps which is still a reasonable looking video file. But like David said, use DVDA to compress your rendered NTSCDV 2:3 pulldown file from vegas and it will top out your bitrate as high as can fit on one disc.

Ok. what if I was to use 2pass vbr in vegas would that cut down on file size? I wan't to maintain the best quality possible.

I suggest rendering your video from Vegas at the default settings, then use the "Fit to Disc" button in the "Optimize DVD" dialogue. DVD-A is going to know what it needs to do to fit your video without any trial and error.
If you really hate how it comes out, you can try other things, but DVD-A itself is probably going to give you the best possible quality.
