Who is Eric Anderson?

New Poster coming soon...
Written by Sarah Daly
Directed by Jake Barber
Synopsis: Eric goes to Freemont High. He’s always gone to Freemont High. So why does nobody know who he is? Because Eric is invisible, metaphysically of course. He’s just one of those kids nobody notices. But Eric is sick of being forgotten, ignored, invisible, so he embarks on a quest to be someone memorable. He undertakes more and more extreme measures until finally, when he’s pretty close to doing something very stupid – his plan works. Just not necessarily in the way he expected.
This is my first DVXUser fest, and I'm very excited for it. I'm working with a terrific writer who's really put together something neat. There may be a change or two to the end, but thats still up in the air right now.

I go to a very small school (there's 24 kids in my entire class.) I also live in a fairly remote part of the world, so this leaves me to do almost all of the different parts of the film making process. It's unfortunate, but its the only way to do it (well).

Hurray! A thread! Can't wait to see how this progresses...

And thanks Chris :)
Sarah is great! We're still working on the ending, but the script should be done in a few days. I love how open she is to my changes. I'd def recommend working with her in the future. It should be a fun film to make!

Haha, nice Robbie. I'll be super impressed if you can figure out what stock photo I used for the shadow person ;)
This was just my temp photo I made quickly. The real poster made by me is coming out soon.

Another upstater? Where abouts?
I think that makes three of us. I am Ithaca or Utica. We have Zaza who is somewhere upstate. And now you.
PS. Good luck on it.
Thanks! Yeah, I'm from Stamford (very tiny town in the catskill mountains.) I talked to Zaza a few weeks ago. Its a small world!
Cool! Sounds great! Poster is cool

its nice to see a fellow high schooler in the fest. what are your plans with this film for after QuestFest? Seeing as how you can still own up the youth film fests.

I have at least one other festival I plan to submit it for. If I find others (or you know of any), I'll throw 'em that way too.

Not quite. We do things a little different in upstate NY. My graduation isn't until June 27th, and by then I should be long into the editing. So I'll have access to the school for the entire shooting period.

I did early decision, so I had my school picked back in January =)
I will be attending the Rochester School of Film and Animation as a Film Major with a focus in Film Editing.
Quick update for you all. I know its been a little while. Second draft was just finished. The writer and I have decided to take a little bit more of a depressing, pessimistic viewpoint with the story. We're still discussing some things, and I expect we might have to draft it at least one more time. I'll hopefully start filming relatively soon.

We decided there were too many laughs in this fest and a counter-force was necessary :)

Third draft finished. I think this one is a keeper. Production shall begin this week or next. I can't wait!

Jake...updates?
Sorry, "next week" was the proper guess at when production would start. *Hopefully* shooting will begin tomorrow. The story has taken a bit of a change, so i should probably check with the mods that it still follows a "quest" theme. I'll have some bts pics up this week. Thanks for staying on me Zaza!

Eric Anderson is Wes Anderson's brother, that's who he is.
Seriously though, welcome to the festival. Looking forward to your work.

Oh no way! I'd like to say that was a clever nod or homage but nope - news to me. Although I'm a big Wes Anderson fan so yay! Go subconscious hero sibling referencing!!

Heh, very nice. I just thought it was humorous because Wes' real brother is indeed named Eric. He does the cover art for Wes' dvds and the paintings frequently seen in his films. He's also occasionally in them! Fun stuff.
There are about 15 different famous Eric Andersons, I was wondering who the first one to say something was gonna be... Haha, thank you for being that person.

O.K., enough about Eric...How's the film coming along? :)
Unfortunatley, it is not. And it doesn't look like it will. I ran into some unforseen problems, and I didn't take into account how busy I would be at the end of the school year. It looks like I might be bowing myself out of this competition. But if theres another one over the summer, I PROMISE I'll be back with something good. *Pinky promise*. Sorry to let some of you down. I greatly appreciate the support though.

Aw, damn. I was looking forward to it. And you know, you don't need a competition to make a film. Just do it. :)

That is bad news. i was looking forward to finding out exactly WHO Eric Anderson was. Gonna let us in on the secret now, or are we gonna have to wait until you complete it?

Yep exactly - in fact if your really clever you'll produce it regardless of the competition, as i understand you have a cracking Sarah Daly script - and if your not daft enough to go change it hehe, you should produce it anyway, cos you'll have a great little short out of it!
Am i right guys? huh huh!

It what I am doing on my former entry. I am making it next month. A film is a film. Plus, you have us all asking "who is Eric Anderson?" - you can't leave us all hanging.
Haha, we'll see. The script is highly dependent on a high school, because I had access to one. But now that I've graduated, my access to high schools (and lots of extras) is much more limited. I will definitely be making shorts this summer, but I'm just not sure I can quite give this story the quality it deserves.
