I'm shopping for a new tripod for my EX3, and the new Sachtlers look pretty good. However there is a 500 dollar difference in price between the Carbon Fiber and the Aluminum tripod. According to the specs they each weigh about the same, extend to the same height, and seem to have the same exact head (but a different ball). Any suggestions on why I should spend the extra 500 for the Carbon Fiber?
Thanks

We went with carbon fiber because we wanted the "speed locks" instead of the standard twist locks. Also, I've heard that the carbon fiber is a bit more durable than the aluminum, but that doesn't really make any sense to me.

We bought the Sachtler DV-8SB SL tripod (comes with soft case). I love the quick mount plate. I love the adjustable counterbalance (can use the same tripod with and without the 35mm adaptor, 35mm lenses, and matte box......BIG differences in the total weight of the camera rig). It's the best tripod I've ever worked with. Highly recommended.
