New to the HV30 need some advice

I am going to buy the HV30 soon for a short I am shooting early this summer and to update my reel.

I took a break from the industry for a couple of years and am now reassembling my studio from scratch.

I bought Vegas Movie Studio 9 Plat. Pro Pack, installed on a Dell Studio 17 laptop.


Anyway.....


What will I need to make sure my 24p HD footage from the HV30 will download properly into Vegas? Also, how do I get wide screen in Movie Studio 9? I find it hard to believe it's a 4:3 only program. I didn't even care to check when I bought it since almost everything seems to shoot in 16:9.

I don't know about the others, but I used HDVSplit, found here:

It takes your raw footage and uploads it as its native format, .m2t. Vegas reads this just fine. I don't know much about Movie Studio 9 -- you should be perfect if you have Vegas though.
