View Full Version : HVX200a settings for rain
I have a video shoot on a firing range and it's going to be raining . Any suggestions on settings. Thanks!

Any other details on the shoot? Something handheld and military is going to look different than something overcranked and dollied... But each are appropriate depending what you are going to shoot...

Rain causes contrast to be lower as also decreases saturation. Maybe bump the master pedestal down a few and the saturation up one or two. I would also avoid a gamma curve / color matrix without a knee function - probably stick to b.press with Med or High knee function. If you are doing any landscape shots, consider a colored ND grad, as the sky will probably be very drab and very bright as compared with the earth.

I shoot a lot of storm stuff, Jason is right on. I use B. press, chroma +2 to +4 range depending on how gloomy it is out, master ped -4 or -5. I sometimes use a .6 graduated ND filter for the sky. Everyone will have a different oppinion but I really like those settings. I also shoot in 1080 60i with those. Don't forget to black balance before the shoot and leave the white balance set at 5.6 so it won't hunt on auto when the light changes from less dense cloud cover.
If your not using a graduated nd filter set the knee at mid.
Hope this helps
